Currently, users have little control over their data on social media platforms. In order to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which will come into effect in May 2018, network operators and service providers need to put mechanisms in place that give users a higher degree of transparency and control over their stored personal data than they have now.

Implementing this can be challenging. However, there is a solution. Horizon 2020 project reTHINK has developed a framework for decoupling identity and service. The reTHINK solution utilises hybrid service concepts for communication between humans and objects.

In the webinar, reTHINK project coordinator Anastasius Gavras from Eurescom GmbH, Germany, presented the reTHINK concept and discussed with the audience how it could be implemented in Europe to empower users and give them back control over their data.
